Manchester City face stern test against Everton

Manchester City has won 18 of their last 20 Premier League matches and head to Goodison Park this weekend looking to extend that record. Everton will hope to upset the reigning Premier League winners when they meet on Merseyside. The Toffees are incredibly inconsistent this season and have lost three of their last four matches.

The good news for Everton is Manchester City were defeated in their last away fixture by Norwich City, 3-2. Still, Everton will have an uphill battle on their hands when Manchester City arrives at Goodison Park.

Cityzens aim to reel in Liverpool

Manchester City is five points behind Liverpool going into the weekend. The Reds are away to Sheffield United on Saturday and will play the early kick off. Manchester City could be as many as eight points behind Liverpool when they kick off.

The pressure of Liverpool winning the early game caused Manchester City to slip up two weeks ago against Norwich City. The Cityzens never led in that match at Carrow Road and ultimately lost 3-2. If the Reds drop points against Sheffield United, then Manchester City could move as many as two points within the league leaders.

Liverpool is the only Premier League team to win all six of their matches this term. If Manchester City is going to retain their title this season, they mustn’t drop points.

Can Manchester City continue unbeaten run against Everton?

Manchester City is unbeaten in eight of their last 10 matches against Everton in all competitions. The last time the Toffees defeated Manchester City was in January 2017 when the teams played at Goodison Park in the Premier League. Everton won 4-0 on the day with three of their goals coming in the second half.

Since their last loss at Goodison Park, Manchester City has compiled a 3W-1D-0L record. The Cityzens have outscored Everton 9-3 during that four-match unbeaten run. Manchester City was victorious 2-0 against Everton at Goodison Park last term. With Everton’s poor, inconsistent form resulting in just seven points from 18 possible, it is likely that the Cityzens will achieve another win away from home.

A must-win game

It is safe to say Manchester City is playing a must-win game on Saturday afternoon. A Liverpool win and Manchester City loss would see them already eight points behind the league leaders after seven games. If Liverpool wins the early game it will put pressure on Manchester City.

According, leading UK sportsbooks, Manchester City are heavy favourites to win at 3/10. Everton is 8/1 to upset Manchester City at home. Fans of Manchester City and Everton are anticipating an exciting game and fans can visit Wisegambler UK to wager on the team they believe will win the Premier League showdown.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has scored eight of the club’s 24 goals this term. Aguero is 4/6 to score anytime, according to leading UK sites.

On paper, the Cityzens should defeat Everton away. However, they should have also defeated Norwich City at Carrow Road but failed to do so. Defence will be key for Guardiola’s team with centre-back stopper Aymeric Laporte out with an injury.

Can Manchester City win back to back matches for just the second time this season? They have a chance to extend their unbeaten run against Everton at Goodison Park and win for a second straight game.
