Help For Lincolnshire Residents Who Can’t Heat Their Homes

Fuel poverty

Lincolnshire residents unable to heat their homes this winter are being offered emergency support by Responders to Warmth (R2W).

The community interest company dispatches free electric blankets, fleeces, and oil-filled radiators to people in need. They also help towards the cost of fixing or replacing boilers.

While people who live in social housing or privately rent have recourse to their landlords to repair heating systems, it is often older homeowners without savings who lack support.

“Many people live off their pensions, which may be sufficient to eat and pay for heating, but it’s not sufficient when things go drastically wrong,” said R2W Director, Ian Pepperdine.

From October to March, £10,000 per month is available to applicants based on need. There is also a loan fund available to fund boilers and energy efficiency improvements.

The R2W helpline can be reached on 0845-606-4566, and more information is available on their website: www.responderstowarmth.org.
