Punters have been left stunned after a popular Lincoln pub announced is it to close.

Widows Cullen Well, which is based in Steep Hill, has been a drinking spot in the city for well over a decade.

However, the business – owned by the Sam Smiths Brewery - has shockingly announced will shut its doors on Thursday, December 13.

A notice on the door at the establishment reads: “To all our customers old and new.

“We thank you for your support in our four years in ‘The Well’.

“Anna and James have made some good friends and will miss serving you all.

“Widow Cullens Well will be closing its doors on Thursday, December 13 until further notice.”

Reasons for the closure of the Lincoln establishment have not been made public – however, many regulars have taken to social media to express their disappointment at the announcement.

James Grocock wrote: "Nothing wrong with [the] beer there. Shame it’s shutting, hope it’s just temporary."

Laura Kent commented: "Last beer before our favourite place closes on Thursday."

"Can't believe they are closing it, i thought it did well," posted Raymond Clayton.
