UKIP MEP Nigal Farage Fined For Speaking Out Against Van Rompuy

Farage was docked 10 days salary and ordered to pay £2,700 in fines for pointing out that Van Rompuy is relatively unknown to the British and the rest of Europe, and that he receives a larger paycheck that Barack Obama.
“Surely I am entitled to have a dig at a man representing 500million people, who is paid more than the U.S. President, and who has not been elected by us?”
As reasonable as that might sound it seems free speech no longer matters in Europe.
“Free speech is an expensive business in the European Parliament.”

Good for Farage. If Van Rompuy can’t take a bit of joshing from a politician in the EU government then what good would he be if, for example the Russians, at some stage in the future, started getting dictatorial over gas supplies and payments for Europe. Would the EU commision give President Medvedev a jolly good talking to and fine him 3,000 euros also?
V.R. was put there by France and Germany merely as a figurehead and Nigel proved that by having a pop at him. The ‘President is a complete non-entity who probobly wouldn’t say ‘boo’ to a goose. When he addressed the press last week, you noticed that Barosso was standing right next to him, making sure no doubt that he stayed ‘on message’, or in case he was asked some awkward questions by the press.
