I feel this kind of case will keep popping up if our Govt does not bring in sweeping reforms over the way cases are handled and social workers are trained and supported whilst working.
Many of our Social Workers are simply overwhelmed with the amount of cases they are dealing with day to day. They need more funds, not for their wages but for Support Workers to work along side and support them enabling to them to deal better with their cases rather than getting bogged down by paperwork and red tape. I always wanted to be a Social Worker until one of my friends became one. This has to be one of the most stressful and criticised careers around and if we don't get behind out social workers and support them then all those that they support are lost too.
