Several interesting tid-bits of news are worth a glance today.
- Statistics published by the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, have shown a tripling of cancer among policemen who were on the scene after the 9/11 attacks.
First responders were infamously told the air was safe to breath, but now police (the focus of this particular study) have shown massive increases in lung, bile duct, tongue and nasal passage cancers.
The fight for compensation and medical help has been an uphill battle.

- As part of the ongoing Western/Israeli offensive against Iran’s civilian nuclear power program, Israel’s Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has been meeting in private with Hilary Clinton today. The only statements given to the media, were the pair chatting about the weather while taking a photo-op.

- Malcolm Harris, 23, an Occupy Wallstreet protester is vowing to challenge a subpoena that would hand over his Twitter account to the state. Harris is charged with disorderly conduct, and the authorities appear to be trying to find any incriminating statements he may have made online. Attorney Martin Stolar commented:
“There is simply no justification for seeking such a broad swath of electronic data as part of prosecuting a minor charge related to one event on a discreet date,” Stolar said. “This is yet another example of the City of New York overstepping the boundaries of the law in order to chill the legitimate political expression of critics of government policies.”

- Some 390,000 people were intimidated enough to let private Enforcement Officers in to their home in 2011, and admit that they were watching TV without a license, something that can only be enforced through coercion. Although it’s claimed that Detector Vans can gather evidence, none has ever been provided in court and the BBC’s agents have never revealed details on how these alleged vans work.
