As reported by the Telegraph, “Big Pharma” is pushing to introduce a male contraceptive pill within the next 5 years.
The “pill”, which is actually a twice monthly injection contains testosterone, the male sex hormone and a version of the female sex hormone progresterone. The use of female hormone tricks the system in to stopping sperm production and the male testosterone is used to counteract this feminization, which decreases natural testosterone in the body. This can cause hot flushes, mood swings and acne due to the imbalances.
It must be noted, as is shown in bodybuilding circles and test replacement patients, regular injections of artificial testosterone can cause a bitter or strange taste in mouth, fatigue, gum or mouth irritation, hair loss, headaches and an actual decrease in sex drive itself.
Research undertaken in China gave injections to 1,045 healthy and fertile men, aged between aged 20 and 45. At least 2 men failed to regain adequate fertility after the trials, which raises all kinds of questions.

I would rather have a male contraceptive which works by inhibiting the momentum of sperm instead of messing with hormones, but this might have to do. Personally, I can’t wait for the male contraceptive to arrive. Its been a long time coming. It isn’t fair that women should have to bear the burden.
Also, the Telegraph article states it will take *at least* five years to enter the market, not *within* five.
Yes, it’s definitely not fair on the female population to take the burden. Some of them are quite awful, causing pain and even increased bleeding.
I just hope they test it fully before putting it on the market. Messing with hormones is not a good idea.
