Jersey City Shooting
Jul 16th, 2009 | By Keelan Balderson | Category: PoliticsNews has hit headlines after 2 criminals were killed, five police officers were shot and wounded — two critically — as they tried to arrest a shotgun-wielding suspect and his accomplice early Thursday in Jersey City, following surveillance of suspects wanted in a shotgun robbery case.
One of the police officers that was shot almost died when a bullet hit his face. Other officers suffered gun shot wounds in the chest and neck to boot.
Gun crime is definitely a huge issue in the US, but what is also afoot is a political move to disarm the nation during times of political and economic meltdown, removing citizens of their second amendment rights.
It is a fact that the majority of gun related crime happens with illegal weapons smuggled in from abroad, or by those without licenses, however increasingly, innocent law abiding citizens are being detained and stripped of their weapons, even when they are acting completely within the law. Obama himself has voted to allow prosecution of citizens for using firearms for self-defense in their own homes, which is as draconian as it gets, and something us UK citizens have had to deal with for years.
Legal weapons dealers are being logged, those that purchase substantial amounts of ammo are being databased, all while police are becoming more and more trigger happy themselves.
Whether having guns should be allowed at all is a debatable subject, but the media’s blatant negativity towards guns, and the authorities unlawful crackdown on them, simply moves the country towards a big brother state.
If all these “terrorist cells” are in our own back yards, shouldn’t we be able to protect ourselves? Or are the criminal bankers, brutish police force and bent politicians getting scared that America might fight back?
