Iran Prepared To Defend Itself

Iran have declared they’re unsurprising willingness to strike back at the West and Israel, should the nation or specific targets (such as their civilian nuclear power facilities) fall under a military attack.

“It’s a reaction to those who are politically discourteous to the Iranian people by saying ‘all options are on the table’,” said General Hossein Salami, according to the official IRNA news agency.

This along with various other statements from the Revolutionary Guards came during a demonstration of strength on state TV, showing a successful mid-range missile test in the desert.

According to Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Iran will not roll over should it finally fall victim of the Anglo-American-Israeli pact’s unjustified war-mongering. Iran’s military have the capability to counterstrike US bases throughout the Gulf region within minutes of being attacked.

The strong words come after continual Western and Israeli led propaganda surrounding Iran’s nuclear capabilities, and the further militarization of the Gulf by the United States. The US have deployed more fighter jets and minesweepers, in case Iran opts to block the transport corridor of the strait of Hormuz, in response to further unjust sanctions.

The Brigadier General told the Fars News Agency: “We have thought of measures to set up bases and deploy missiles to destroy all these bases in the early minutes after an attack.” Some 35 US bases and targets in Israel are already part of the strategy.

This warning runs alongside a 3 day Iranian military drill called Great Prophet Seven, which they have been using to prepare for attacks but to also reiterate their ability to defend themselves.

“These [US] bases are all in range of our missiles, and the occupied lands [a reference to Israel] are also good targets for us,” Hajizadeh said.

The Revolutionary Guard displayed dozens of missiles during the drill, including the Shahab-3 and Sejil.

“The message of these Grand Prophet 7 manoeuvres is to show the determination, the will and the power of the Iranian people in defending their national interests and core values,” General Hossein Salami continued.

The tests targeted mocked-up military bases made to look like those of the US.

Unlike some middle-eastern countries that are made up of warring tribes and paramilitary factions, Iran’s army and Revolutionary Guard are an advanced and well equipped institution that would give any nation a run for its money, should the Islamic Republic come under threat. Presumably it is because of this reality that the West and Israel haven’t already launched a strike. Instead they have spent years using rhetoric and propaganda to paint Iran as the next enemy, while covertly assassinating targets within the country and backing opposition groups and terrorists. Iran’s show of strength reiterates the carelessness of some of the saber-rattling by US and Israeli politicians.

One weak point on the chess piece for Iran is Syria, which is currently facing a violent civil war, with the West backing the opposition rebels and terrorists. The conflict could quite easily spill over in to the Islamic Republic as a proxy war. It was revealed last month that Iran is also increasing its naval defenses amidst the ongoing threats and had sent war ships to dock in Syria as a warning that any overt attack by the west on Syria would mean trouble.

The tension continues.

YES – Iran has the military capabilities to strike and destroy over a dozen military bases in the region and with the help of Lebanese Hizbullah, which already defeated the Jewish army in 2006 – can create a hell in Israel. Iran is not in position to defeat United States – but it can make Vietnam look like a playground for the US. American forces have already been destroyed by non-army countries like Afhanistan and Iraq.

Britain’s former foreign secretary, Lord David Owen, in an Op-Ed in daily ‘Mirror’ last December had claimed that American wars in Middle East have turned Iran to be the most powerful nation in the region.
