Want to replace that rackety old boiler? Thinking of expanding with a conservatory? This could now prove extremely costly under a Government proposal to force UK citizens to pay for eco-friendly renovations whenever they want to undertake basic work on their homes [1].

Under the fascist green scheme whenever you plan on maintaining your home, local bureaucrats would be given authority to dictate whether you should also install new roof and wall insulation or draught proofing on doors, all at your expense!

Should you fall victim of the green shirts but can’t afford their demands, who can in this economy? You will be prompted to take out a loan and/or accept an increase on energy bills until the cost of the work is paid off.

Homeowners will be able to borrow up to £10,000 to carry out the work and pay it back for up to 25 years. However it seems the Government have forgotten that people move house on average every nine to 12 years [2], making it dubious that we’ll ever see a benefit from the supposed energy saving renovations. Who knows what inflation will be in 25 years anyway?

On top of this, energy prices are already on the rise as the people are forced to pay for the energy companies to go green as well. Bill payers will face £500 a year on top of the current total average energy bill of £1,157 [3].

Under the unelected EU Superstate the UK is forced to source 15% of its energy from renewables by 2020 [4], with 40% of the UK’s power coming from wind, wave and tide sources by 2030 [5]. Furthermore the Government has pledged to cut CO2 emissions 60% by 2030, and 80% by 2050 [6].

Quite how this is ever going to work with a Government that is Trillions in the red, and a public whose disposable income is shrinking every day, is not clear. But as long as we’re saving the planet right!?
